Toledo Walleye sign veteran forward, steady defenseman

The Toledo Walleye announced the signings of a veteran forward and a steady defenseman today.

The team has signed forward Trevor Bruess and defenseman Corey Fienhage for the 2014-15 season. Both players were acquired in trades at the end of last season.

Bruess, a native of Minneapolis, Minn., had 37 points in 61 games for the Florida Everblades last season. He scored 14 goals and had a career-high 23 assists. Bruess has been an assistant captain each of the last two years for Florida.

Bruess, 28, has appeared in 176 ECHL games between Florida and South Carolina since turning professional in 2009. He has 107 career points with 42 goals and 65 assists.

Fienhage, 24, played in 63 games for Orlando of the ECHL. He posted 17 points with two goals and 15 assists. The Apple Valley, Minn. native also has played for Gwinnett in his ECHL career that spans 160 games. He has nine goals and 36 assists.
