Toledo Walleye sign CHL forward Troy Schwab

The Toledo Walleye have signed Troy Schwab, a productive forward who has dominated the Central Hockey League for three straight seasons.

Schwab, 29, tallied a total of 232 points with 65 goals and 167 assists in 186 games during the last three seasons between Denver and Wichita of the CHL.

The native of Kindersley, Saskatchewan led Denver last season with a league-high 71 assists and ranked second on the team in points with 96. In 2012-13, he led Denver with 60 assists and was second in points (81).

Schwab, a 5-foot-8 and192 pound forward, collected a point per game with 55 (19 G, 36 A) in 2010-11 with Wichita in 54 contests.

“Troy is a proven point producer and leader in pro hockey,” Walleye coach Derek Lalonde said. “Toledo fans will love his approach to the game."”

Schwab played four seasons in college at Lake Superior State where he was a captain as a junior and senior. He started his professional career in 2009-10 with Johnstown of the ECHL. He led the Chiefs that year in assists (35) and was second the team with 53 points in 67 contests.
