2 Red Cross workers head to Florida

Two Red Cross volunteers from northwest Ohio are scheduled to head south this morning in an emergency response vehicle to provide food and drinking water where needed in Florida.

The volunteers, Fred Vallongo from the Greater Toledo Area Chapter and Keith Hosman from the Henry County Chapter, are expected to arrive tomorrow in Montgomery, Ala., where there is a staging area for hurricane relief efforts, said Kristen Cajka, spokesman for the Greater Toledo Area Chapter.

"We have around 50 people who are specially trained to be national disaster responders," Ms. Cajka said. "So we have people we can call upon in times like this."
