End to cold snap near, but first: more cold

8/22/2004

The recent cold snap will be ending soon, but not before possibly setting a record low temperature overnight, forecasters said.

John Feerick, a meteorologist for AccuWeather Inc., said last night that today's early morning temperatures were expected to drop to between 45 and 48 degrees, approaching the record low of 45 for the date set in 1923.

The coldest temperature recorded so far this summer in northwest Ohio was 48 degrees on Aug. 12, he said.

More summer-like weather is expected to arrive by midweek, when daily high temperatures should be in the 80s, Mr. Feerick said.
