7/28/2006

FOSTORIA An isolated storm in Fostoria damaged several homes and blew down a wall of a storage building of a car dealership, where falling limbs damaged several vehicles, officials said yesterday.

No injuries were reported from the storm, said Cindy Distel, a clerk in the mayor s office.

Jeff McDannell, fixed operations manager for Reineke Ford Inc. north of town, said the wind knocked down the west wall of a building the auto dealer uses for storage. Several vehicles were damaged, he said. The storm struck after the dealership closed at 6 p.m., he said.

An estimated 2,900 residents were without power from 6:50 p.m. until about 11:30 p.m.

Fountain Cemetery on Van Buren Street was littered with tree limbs and damaged tombstones. Mayor John Davoli said a major cleanup effort will be required there.
