Heat advisory in effect for Lenawee and Monroe counties

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for portions of Southeast Michigan. Lenawee and Monroe counties are the counties under the advisory. Temperatures are predicted to reach between 93 to 97 degrees this afternoon with a heat index to range from 95 to 100 degrees.

According to the National Weather Service, a heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible.

There is a chance of thunderstorms late this afternoon and tonight.
