Sylvania crews ready to begin pickup of leaves

What's red, yellow, orange, and brown all over?

Some front lawns and backyards this time of the year as leaves drift down and pile up.

In the city of Sylvania, crews are heading out to begin the annual leaf pickup program that will run until Dec. 8. Crews will cover all streets at least four times during the period.

The amount of leaves and weather conditions can shorten or lengthen the time it takes for crews to make return trips through a neighborhood.

Residents should place leaves at the edge of the street or roadway. Do not put leaves in plastic bags and do not rake or place leaves in the street gutter or on the pavement because this can plug storm sewers and obstruct traffic. Keep leaves out of the streets to reduce danger to children who might be tempted to play in the leaves. Crews will not pick up garden waste, tree limbs, or other debris.
