Gorham school bids over estimate

FAYETTE - Bids for the largest projects in constructing the new Gorham Fayette Local school, which are expected to be formally considered by the board of education on Dec. 18, came in over estimate.

There also were not as many bids, particularly for plumbing and electrical work, as construction managers had anticipated, according to Superintendent Dave Hankins.

Opened on Friday were:

•Four bids for general trades, ranging from $8.3 million to $8.7 million. The estimate was $7.7 million.

•Two bids for electrical work, ranging from $1.7 million to $1.9 million. The estimate was $1.5 million.

•Three bids for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning ranging from $1.3 million to $1.4 million. The estimate was $1.8 million.

•Two bids for plumbing, ranging from $558,000 to $615,000. The estimate was $721,000.

•Four bids for fire suppression, ranging from $253,000 to $283,000. The estimate was $245,000.
