Another applicant applies to fill vacancy

WAUSEON - A Sauder Woodworking Co. retiree has added her name for consideration for the Fulton County Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities board seat that is to be vacated by Dr. John Both on Dec. 31.

Kathie Donaldson of German Township last week wrote to Fulton County Probate Court Judge Michael Bumb saying she has a degree in elementary education with additional coursework in early childhood education and has retired from Sauder Woodworking after 19 years there.

She has a daughter, Karin Bloomer, who has received services from the disabilities board, she wrote. State law requires that the judge appoint someone to the board who has an immediate family member eligible for disabilities services.

The four-year term runs from Jan. 1, 2007, to Dec. 31, 2010.

The only other application Judge Bumb had received by early this week was from Dale Morgan, a retired unemployment claims adjudicator whose wife is a client-worker at Triangular Processing, which is part of the county's disabilities program.

Judge Bumb has said he will consider applications submitted after his Dec. 1 deadline.

"I'm trying to get the best person I can find," he said.

The board provides services for about 300 people, ranging from once-a-year consultations to 24-hour care, with about 50 employees and a $4.4 million annual budget.
