Archbold: Library restoration under way

3/1/2007

ARCHBOLD - Plans for replacing the carpet at Archbold Community Library, which is anticipated to be a $25,000 to $50,000 project, moved ahead this week.

The library board voted 6-0 Monday to hire Archbold architect Lee Short to write bid specifications and handle the carpet replacement process. Board member Diane Tinsman was absent.

The library likely will close for several days in early August when the carpet is expected to be laid, said Joyce Klingelsmith, library director.

The present carpeting, which is 12 years old, is showing wear, Ms. Klingelsmith said.

METAMORA - Evergreen Local school board last week added nearly $42,000 to the $840,000 it had earlier approved for its all-weather track and bleachers project. Among the changes that add expense is a polyurethane surface for the track.

The school board also approved borrowing $728,000 at 4.68 percent interest for five years for the work. Of that, $160,000 is in bonds and $568,000 is in tax anticipation notes. Board member Bob Keller was absent.
