New Fulton County superintendent to begin duties Nov. 1

10/17/2007

WAUSEON - The new superintendent of the Fulton County Board of Developmental Disabilities will begin her duties Nov. 1.

Beth Friess, the current director of children services, has been hired to replace Brenda Oyer.

Ms. Friess has been employed by the board of developmental disabilities for 19 years, first as an early intervention specialist and then as early childhood coordinator. She has served in her current position since 1998.

She has attended the executive development and superintendent development training offered by the Ohio Association of County Boards of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities.

The Fulton County Board of Development Disabilities had two excellent candidates, said Penny Earl, board president, in a prepared statement, but Ms. Friess "stood out with the dedication she's shown our clients over the years and her plans for the future of our agency."

Ms. Oyer, who had been superintendent of the Fulton County Board of Developmental Disabilities for the last two years, resigned in May. The resignation was effective at the end of the year or when the board hired a new director.
