SMALL HANDS MAKE BIG NOISEMAKERS

Sure, New Year's revelers banged pots with wooden spoons, but some youngsters prepared for the festivities through an activity last week at the West Toledo Branch Library - making their own noisemakers. Gabe Johnson, 5, assembles some pieces under the guidance of his father, Doug. The Johnsons are from Toledo.

How well did Gabe do? Just fine. He was rewarded with a high-five from Heidi Yeager, children's librarian.

Also putting together their projects were, Christine Jenkins, 10, left, and her friend Hannah Shible, 10; each is from Toledo.
