Student of the Week: Brooke Smith

Brooke Smith, a senior from Lyons, plans to attend college for success and independence. Her favorite subject is math, and she is ranked third in her class with a 4.02 grade-point average.

She is a recipient of the National Honor Society varsity letter in softball. Brooke has played softball for four years and also enjoys water skiing.

She volunteers at the local library and the Lyons Recycling Center, and pitches in to help clean up after sporting events.

"Brooke brightens my classroom each day," said Catherine Sohnly, language arts teacher. "Not only is she an outstanding student academically, but she is also always willing to help others."

Brooke is the daughter of Carl and Angela Smith.
