    • What can students do with plastic building blocks, rocks, tinfoil, and string? Whatever their imaginations will allow, all while learning about possible careers. Ramiah Henry, above, uses those materials to build a model of a house as part of the annual Block Kids Competition at Start High School. The competition was sponsored by Toledo Chapter 282 of the National Association of Women in Construction.

    Samantha Trenchik of Toledo uses the materials to build a model tower. The goals of the competition are to introduce youths to the construction industry and to make them aware of possible future jobs. Local winners advanced to regional and possibly a national competition.
