Pettisville school district moving on building plan

PETTISVILLE, - The Ohio School Facilities Commission has given conditional approval to a plan to provide 82 percent of the funding for a new building in the Pettisville Local schools district that would house students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.

Under the agreement, the state would provide about $17.5 million toward the $21.4 million project. The western Fulton County community would be responsible for contributing the remainder of the money.

The school board approved the conditional agreement at a recent board meeting, Superintendent Stephen Switzer said.

The school board is expected to vote July 14 on a bond proposal for the November ballot that would make the project possible, Mr. Switzer said. The school board is considering a proposal of 5.5 mills, plus 1/4 to 1/2 percent income tax increase, he said.

The district is planning a 95,000-square-foot building to replace its current structure, which was built in 1929.
