OSU Fulton County Extension hosts program on moths, emerald ash borers

WAUSEON - The emerald ash borer and gypsy moth have completely infiltrated Fulton County, say officials from the Ohio State University Fulton County Extension.

Extension officials say this year damage from the foreign pests has been reported throughout the county.

"A lot of trees are dying on the eastern edge," said Greg LaBarge, extension educator. "We've received reports from Swanton to Archbold."

The extension office is hosting a program Tuesday to teach homeowners how to protect their trees from infestation. The program will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Robert Fulton Agricultural Center, 8770 State Rt. 108 in Wauseon.

Experts from OSU will spend the first hour advising the public about spray programs to control the spread of gypsy moths. The second hour will focus on protecting healthy ash trees from borer infestation.
