Jacob Tanner, 16, of Maumee recently received Boy Scouting's highest award at an Eagle Scout ceremony recently at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Maumee.

He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 103 and is the troop's Senior Patrol Leader.

Jacob's Eagle Scout project involved painting a sensory room at Bittersweet Farms. The soothing color scheme helps create a calming atmosphere for the residents with autism.

He has earned 39 merit badges and is a member of Boy Scout's honorary fraternity, Order of the Arrow.

Jacob is a junior at Maumee High School where he is on the football team.

Nicholas Gore, 16, of Ottawa Hills was recently awarded the rank of Eagle Scout at a ceremony at the Inverness Country Club.

He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 27 and is a member of Venture Scouts 2027. Both are sponsored by Ottawa Hills High School Parent Teacher Organization.

Nicholas' Eagle Scout project was centered around the Ottawa Hills Elementary School, where he assembled and installed two full-size benches in a high traffic-waiting area, worked with a local landscape designer to create a garden, and acquired and planted vegetation and stepping stones to improve the scenery and functionality of the location. He also raised the money through various means to fund his project.

He has been active in scouting for ten years. He traveled on two high adventure Boy Scout trips with his troop. He was the boat crew leader on a trek with Troop 27 to Sea Base, a High Adventure Boy Scout Camp in the Florida Keys, and crew leader on a trek with Venture Scouts 2027 to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.

Nicholas is a junior at Ottawa Hills High School, where he is active in sports and theater.
