Sylvania

Madrigal Singers and dinner held by Northview High School, 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Dec. 14 at the Clarion Westgate in West Toledo. High school students will sing at an old-style dinner. Tickets are $25 for dinner and show. Reservations: 419-283-8862.

Northview High School Women's Chorus, Symphonic Gold, and Symphonic Black Choirs will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 11 in the school's Little Theater. On Dec. 18, the Northview A Cappella and Harmony Road Show Choirs will be in concert at 7:30 p.m. in the school's Little Theater.

First Light Sylvania, an alcohol-free New Year's Eve family celebration, will help usher in 2009 with activities at several locations in the community from 6-10 p.m. Dec. 31, featuring a kids' creation station, storytelling, clowns, Guitar Hero gaming, ballet, kids' carnival, and magic. Entertainment will include barbershop, soft country/rock, karaoke, and a country bluegrass jam session. Venues will include the Sylvania Historical Village, Sylvania Franciscan Academy, the Wingate Hotel, Franciscan Center at Lourdes College, Chandler Cafe, and St. Joseph's Church. A fireworks display will light the sky from Harroun Park at 9:30 p.m. Transportation available from venue to venue. Wrist bands, required for admission, are $5 for anyone over age 3. Ottawa Hills

Ottawa Hills Community Education classes for January-February include open bridge, advanced beginner Pilates, creating a centerpiece, and understanding China. Adult classes are open to the public.
