Central Catholic senior in chess contest

Ryan Clayton of West Toledo, a Central Catholic High School senior, won the United States Chess Federation Ohio State Championship on March 21.

Ryan will move on to compete in the 2010 national Denker Tournament of High School Champions in Irvine, Calif., from July 31 to Aug. 3. Scholarships are awarded to the top five finishers in the national tournament.

He is a member of the Central Catholic chess team and finished undefeated this season.

He only has had four losses in four years of play at Central Catholic.

He is on the honor roll, has played on the Irish golf team, and is a member of the Men's Club and the Frisbee Club.

He plans to attend Ohio State University, where he will major in engineering.
