Sylvania Township trustees to meet Thursday on TARTA tax

5/19/2010

The Sylvania Township trustees have scheduled a special meeting tomorrow night to discuss the Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority's proposal to replace its two property levies with a half-cent sales tax throughout Lucas County.

The property levies are for a combined 2.5 mills, and are collected in Sylvania Township and eight other TARTA member communities.

The proposed sales tax would allow the transit authority to provide countywide service.

But it also would make Lucas County's sales tax the second-highest in Ohio, at 7.25 percent.

The meeting is to start at 7 p.m. in the township hall, 4927 Holland Sylvania Rd.
