Sylvania Township's old Fire Station No. 3 up for sale

Sylvania Township's old Fire Station No. 3 will be going on the block.

The township trustees last week authorized Assistant Administrator Susan Wood to put the property at 5501 Monroe St. up for bid.

The new Fire Station No. 3 is nearby, at the corner of Haddon and Whiteford Roads. It was completed in July. The old station property, a converted gas station, has already piqued the interest of potential buyers. The township has performed environmental remediation, with the removal of an underground fuel tank.

In other action, trustees listened to a presentation by Public Works Manager Greg Huffman about upgrading the cemetery sign and gate on Convent Boulevard. Mr. Huffman said the materials for the project would cost $2,000 and the labor would be done in house.
