Sorority plans local friend unit
8/10/2011Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. has scheduled an informational meeting at 6 p.m. Aug. 17 about its efforts to charter a Philo Affiliate in greater Toledo.
The sorority was founded in 1922 by seven teachers at Butler University in Indianapolis and set out to promote unity among women.
The Philo ("friend") Affiliate would work in such areas as education, cancer awareness, battling teen pregnancy, and aiding underdeveloped countries.
The meeting is to be at Padua Center, 1416 Nebraska Ave. in Toledo, and refreshments will be served. Attire is business casual.
