BELO HORIZONTE, Brazil — Police are on alert in the World Cup city of Belo Horizonte because of concerns about renewed violence between soccer fans from Argentina and Brazil.

Today, Argentina squeaked out a 1-0 victory over Iran in Belo Horizonte.

Hours earlier, dozens of Argentine and Brazilian fans got into a drunken street clash, launching beer bottles and insults at one another. No injuries were reported.

Before the match, police say at least eight fans received minor injuries as team Argentina’s bus neared the stadium. Officers used stun grenades to disperse the crowd so the bus could make it to the stadium.

And during the match, police say they detained 19 Argentines suspected of being in Brazil illegally. They were delivered to Argentine federal police who were accompanying the match.
