Starting it off

2/9/2007

This past week was a long one. It finally set in there would be no football for seven months. That's a hard week for me. Signing day, the combine, the draft, none of it even approaches comparing to football Saturdays and Sundays. Even though I'm often working through it, waking up on those fall days knowing there will be nonstop football, scores to check at any moment -- that's a great feeling.

To mourn my temporary loss, I decided to start a blog.

Well, this wasn't really supposed to be a therapeutic thing for me. Sports news happens all the time and the Blade wants you to be able to hear it as soon as possible, with instant analysis and the big picture included. Then there's the "news," the photos, videos and quotes that, truthfully, won't change your life, but will make the work day go by faster.

I am in a serious, committed relationship with the Internet, which led me to volunteer for this blog. I have been checking the Tigers' waiver wire all off-season trying to figure out how the Mud Hens' roster will shape up, so why can't I share that with all of you? Conference races in college basketball take two months to decide, yet I'm always checking statistics and scores to see how my predictions are unfolding.

So Xs and Mo's should be fun. Bookmark me. Let me know when you agree, or more likely, disagree with what I'm saying. Comments make the blog, you know.
