BG women update

6/22/2007

I spent some time down in Bowling Green this week in the women's basketball offices, specifically with Carin Horne for a story for this Sunday. Check it out, it's a pretty amazing tale of determination.

Among the other tidbits I picked up:

-- Ali Mann is finalizing a deal to play on a team in Luxembourg. The league starts this fall. She would be on a 10-month contract.

-- Seven of the eight freshmen have arrived and start classes on Monday. Niki McCoy is already taking summer classes and working out with the team.

-- Whereas the teams of the past few years relied on shooting and experience, this year's team will rely more on athleticism. This appears to be the most athletic team they've ever had in Curt Miller's tenure. They also will be much more guard-based than in the past, when they had some of the best post players in conference history.

-- Whitney Taylor and Sarah Clapper are about three weeks away from being fully recovered from their ACL injuries. Coaches hope both can be big contributors this year.
