The Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority today approved bond packages of $177.5 million for the expansion of Levis Commons in Perrysburg for a 175-room hotel and convention center and two more retail centers at the sprawling complex.

The money, raised through the sale of bonds, would pay in part for public improvements, such as streets and sidewalks. The Perrysburg City Council has to approve the arrangement and plans to take it up at its June 6 meeting.

The port authority would not be on the hook for the money if there was a default, said Jerry Arkebauer, the port authority s finance director.
