The Toledo Crowne Plaza Hotel is remaining open for business despite a notice filed this week with the state under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification act that says 146 people there will lose their jobs Nov. 14.

The filing, by Lane Hotels Inc., says that the Northbrook, Ill. company intends to shut down and cease all operations at the 2 Seagate hotel next month.

However, a spokesman for the hotel said the filing is simply a change of ownership and employment to Paradise Hospitality, Inc., of San Diego. She referred further questions to a hotel manager, who was unavailable for comment.

The notice does indicate, however, that a business dispute exists between Lane and Paradise, in which Lane alleges that Paradise has "failed [to pay sums which are due and owing and [has failed] to provide sufficient funds for the timely payment of vendors and for the reasonable operation of the Hotel."
