Factory to halt operation in North Baltimore

NORTH BALTIMORE, Ohio A Troy, Mich., auto-parts supplier that had been scheduled for a mass layoff now apparently will suspend operations in North Baltimore next month.

Officials of Continental Structural Plastics did not return a call seeking comment. But employees at the North Baltimore plant said that they were notified this week that all but a handful of workers will be let go by Dec. 22.

The firm announced in the spring that it would shed 200 of 270 jobs at the Wood County operation by Dec. 31.

Reasons for the larger layoff are unclear.

The company, which supplies General Motors Corp. and Ford Motor Co. and also produces household entry doors, has other plants in Van Wert, Carey, and Conneaut, Ohio.
