Wal-Mart cutting 700-800 jobs at headquarters

BENTONVILLE, Ark. Wal-Mart Stores Inc. says it is cutting 700 to 800 jobs at its northwestern Arkansas headquarters.

Spokesman David Tovar said Tuesday that the company was cutting those jobs at its headquarters and would be adding employees at the company s stores. He said the company would be adding thousands of jobs at Wal-Mart and Sam s Club stores this year.

Wal-Mart and Sam s Clubs have about 30,000 employees in northwestern Arkansas, including about 14,000 at their Bentonville headquarters.
