Study finds decline in Toledo summer hiring

6/9/2009

Employers in metro Toledo will be hiring this summer at a significantly slower pace than a year ago, according to a national report to be released Tuesday.

Sixteen percent of local firms surveyed said that from July to September, they plan to add employees, while 14 percent said they planned to reduce their payrolls, a report by Manpower Inc. said.

A year ago, 27 percent were planning to hire and 7 percent were expecting to cut employment rolls.

Manpower said that for the coming months the best employment prospects would be in construction, wholesale and retail trade, financial activities, leisure and hospitality, and other services.
