200 jobs in Williams, Henry counties to end

Nearly 200 workers at a pair of northwest Ohio factories will be laid off by the end of the year, according to notices filed with the Ohio Department of Job & Family Services.

Metaldyne Corp. will furlough 62 workers immediately, with the possibility of another 50 layoffs later, at a plant in Edon in Williams County. Initial layoffs are to be completed by Aug. 31, according to the notice filed under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification act. Company officials attributed the action to loss of business from Chrysler Group LLC, a primary customer.

Sherwin-Williams will close a paint and coatings division plant in Henry County s Deshler by the fourth quarter of 2009. The firm said 121 employees will be affected, with layoffs expected to take place in September and October.
