Jobless rates in counties across northwest Ohio rose in December as the service sector of the economy shed jobs. Some durable goods manufacturing showed signs of adding jobs, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services said, but those were offset by losses in manufacturing of non-durable goods.
Ottawa County was tied for the second-highest jobless rate in the state in December at 17.3 percent, while Hancock County continued to have the lowest jobless rate among counties in northwest Ohio at 9.6 percent, the department estimated.
