AAA: Gas prices up in Ohio, down in Michigan
6/14/2010Ohio gasoline prices have risen 3 cents higher from last week, following several weeks of falling prices, while prices in Michigan are down 3.4 cents per gallon over the past week
According to a survey from auto club AAA, the Oil Price Information Service and Wright Express, Ohio's current average price for regular-grade gasoline is $2.65 per gallon, up from $2.62 last Monday.
Ohio gas is 8 cents cheaper than the current national average for regular, $2.73 a gallon. And, the state's motorists are paying less to fill up than they were a year ago, when the Ohio average was about $2.74.
AAA Michigan said Monday the statewide average is $2.70, 13.6 cents per gallon less than last year at this time.
Of the cities it surveys, the auto club says the cheapest price for self-serve regular fuel is in the Saginaw/Bay City area, where it's $2.57 a gallon. The highest average can be found in the Ann Arbor and Marquette areas at $2.75.
Oil prices rose above $75 a barrel Monday in Asia as rallying stock markets and a stronger euro bolstered investor confidence. Oil prices rose 3.2 percent last week despite weak U.S. jobs and retail sales figures, a sign that suggests crude may continue to climb this week.
