Miller Bros. Construction Inc. of Archbold, Ohio has been named one of the nation's 39 safest construction companies by the Associated General Contractors of America. A.A. Boos & Sons Inc. of Oregon was one of several companies receiving second-place safety awards from the association.

Hasselbach Meats of Fremont received several honors during the recent Ohio Association of Meat Processors convention. Its awards included grand champion of the boneless ham and whole-muscle jerky categories, as well as first place in the smoked turkey, restructured jerky, and semiboneless ham categories.

The University of Toledo Urban Affairs Center is to discuss ways to strengthen the local food chain system during a Community Food Summit from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Dana Conference Center on the UT health science campus, formerly the Medical College of Ohio. APICS, the Association for Operations Management, is to discuss quality control procedures and techniques across various industries at a 5:30 p.m. meeting April 19.
