MONROE — Ventower Industries LLC, which plans to make towers for industrial-sized wind generators at a plant near the Port of Monroe, said it is back on track, hiring employees, and plans to start production this year.

Ventower began construction last summer on its $22 million factory and was to have hired 50 workers by the end of 2010 and begin production early this year. Company President and Chief Executive Gregory Adanin said the timetable has been pushed back to this summer, when it hopes to have the factory completed with manufacturing operations to start shortly afterward.

He said the company has hired a few workers and plans to hire about 50 for its initial start-up phase, and eventually have 150 in a few years. On its Web site ventower.com, the company has been advertising positions for welder/fitters, assembly technicians, painter/blaster, a cutting table operator, a quality assurance manager, and design and manufacturing engineers.
