A bridge contractor for a project in Allen County and a Fulton County steel processor have been fined $30,360 and $24,893, respectively, for safety problems found earlier this year during inspections by federal regulators.

Eagle Bridge Co., of Sidney, Ohio, was charged with three serious violations and one repeat violation after Occupational Safety and Health Administration inspectors visited a construction site in Lima, Ohio, in late March. The violations included problems with scaffolding and workers being exposed to fall hazards.

Fulton County Processing Ltd., of Delta was cited for two penalties, one in February when it was fined $6,413 and another in March when it was fined $18,480. In the first citation, it was found to have committed four serious violations and two “other” violations ranging from a lack of suits as protection against chemicals to overexposure to hydrogen chloride. In the second citation, the firm was charged with five serious violations, most related to exposing employees to injury hazards when accessing a coil slitting machine.
