Health Care REIT Inc. earns LEED recognition
9/9/2011The Dorr Street headquarters of Health Care REIT Inc. — which the company purchased from Dana Holding Corp. in 2008 — has been awarded LEED Platinum status by the U.S. Green Building Council, the highest level of recognition for energy efficiency and sustainability in commercial buildings, the company has announced.
The Toledo real estate investment trust invested between $10 million and $12 million into the 160-acre campus in West Toledo before it moved in a year ago this month. Energy efficiency and alternative energy features for the headquarters resulted in a 32 percent reduction in energy consumption, a 40 percent reduction in water usage, and 20 percent of its electricity provided by a photovoltaic solar array.
