U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D., Ohio) announced legislation Wednesday that would aid the marketing and production of bio-based products, which are composed wholly or significantly of biological ingredients — renewable plant, animal, marine, or forestry materials.

His office said the legislation would expand business opportunities for Ohio-manufactured products made with agricultural products.

The legislation would affect at least 12 companies in northwest Ohio, according to a release from Mr. Brown’s office.
