John S. Szuch, chairman of Fifth Third Bank (Northwestern Ohio), has left his position as head of the Cincinnati-based bank’s regional division to become an executive officer of Toledo-based Signature Bank, N.A. The change is effective immediately.

At Signature, which was founded 10 years ago by ex-executives of the former Capital Bank N.A., of Sylvania, Mr. Szuch will represent the local bank in the community and help with business development, Rick Brunner, Signature’s chairman and chief executive officer said. Mr. Szuch also will join Signature Bank’s board of directors.

Mr. Szuch was a co-founder and chairman of Capital Bank, which was acquired by Fifth Third Bancorp in 2001. As part of the acquisition, Mr. Szuch became chairman of Fifth Third Bank’s northwest Ohio operations. He also has been on the board of directors of the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority since 2008.
