Caribou Coffee board OKs firm’s takeover

MINNEAPOLIS — Caribou Coffee is to be taken private by the German holding company Joh. A Benckiser Group GmbH in a deal valued at about $340 million.

The coffee chain, which has 610 stores in the United States and overseas, said Monday that it will operate as an independent company with its own brand and management team once the buyout by closes. Caribou’s board has approved the deal.
