BLISSFIELD — The Blissfield Downtown Development Authority/Main Street organization declared the holiday season shopping season a success for local vendors downtown.

Starting before Thanksgiving, downtown businesses participated in three events that lured numerous shoppers downtown. Patricia Rayl, Blissfield DDA/Main Street director, estimated more than $20,000 worth of business was generated during a single event.

The Blissfield DDA/Main Street organization was founded in June, 2010, when Gov. Jennifer Granholm recognized the village as a Michigan Main Street community.
