30th annual trade fair to feature local businesses
Event will emphasize buying, living local
3/4/2013TEMPERANCE — “Keep Bedford Green” is the Bedford Trade Fair theme this year, said Laura Collins, president of the Bedford Business Association, the sponsor of the annual event.
Local businesses will be featured during the 30th annual fair and visitors are encouraged to “buy local, shop local, and live local,” said Ms. Collins, a Lambertville tax accountant.
The free event will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 16 and noon to 5 p.m. March 17 at Bedford High School, 8285 Jackman Rd., in Temperance and brings out not only local residents, but residents from outlying areas as well.
It is always a weekend of fun for businesses and the people who come to see what each business has to offer, Ms. Collins said.
The event also features entertainment, door and booth prizes, and food and beverages.
Ms. Collins said she expects as many as 15,000 visitors to walk through the doors.
The trade fair is also a fund-raiser for the Bedford Business Association, which has one paid staffer: a part-time secretary.
Booth rentals are $200 to $250, with proceeds used to make mortgage payments on the association’s building at 8204 Secor Rd.
The Bedford Business Association is a group of about 300 business owners who have come together to share ideas on how to better serve the area.
The group welcomes new members and the opportunity to help business owners help other business owners through cooperation, interconnected business relationships, friendships, and common interests.
