DUNDEE, Mich. — Cabela's says its store in Dundee will reopen at 4 p.m. Friday, more than a week after an electrical fire shut down the store.

Cabela's has been closed since April 24 as employees and contractors clean up from the small fire that broke out in a light fixture. Police officials in Dundee said there was no damage to the building, but a layer of soot from smoke and the chemicals used to extinguish the fire covered much of the store's merchandise. Officials also said the store's collection of of taxidermy animals also had to be cleaned.

“Our team is eager to get our store put back together,” Joe Ross, general manager for the Dundee Cabela’s said in a statement. “We can’t wait until we can open the doors and welcome our customers back."

Company officials didn't say how much merchandise was ruined, but said all goods that were damaged will be replaced with new stock.
