Toledo post-maker honored for innovation

American Posts LLC of Toledo received the End-User Efficiency Initiative of the Year Award during the Platts Global Metals Awards. Ceremonies were held last week in London.

The award honors the spirit of innovation as exemplified by an end-user of metal. American Posts was honored for innovation in the manufacturing of steel u-channel posts used in highway signs, landscaping, fencing, and many other areas.

American Posts invested in an automated production line that allowed it to produce more posts with fewer workers.

The firm said it increased production from 500,000 units in 2006 to 5 million in 2012.
