TIFFIN — A Tiffin company that makes furniture has been fined $50,000 by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration for unsafe equipment.

OSHA said Ameriwood Industries Inc. failed to use energy-control procedures on foam cutting machines, putting workers at risk.

OSHA classified it as a repeat violation because Ameriwood was cited for the same violation in 2009 and 2010 at the Tiffin facility. The company has been inspected by OSHA 10 times since 2004, resulting in the issuance of 10 repeat, 31 serious, and 14 other-than-serious violations.

OSHA initiated its most recent inspection in March after receiving a complaint. The company employs 240 people in Tiffin.
