Waterman, Miehls named to key Block posts

David Waterman has been named secretary of Block Communications Inc., company chairman Allan Block announced Monday.

Mr. Block also announced that Jodi Miehls has been named to the Block Communications board of directors.

Mr. Waterman is a partner and chairman of the management committee at Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick LLP, a venerable Toledo law firm. He is a graduate of Princeton University and received his law degree from the University of Michigan.

He is also the general counsel for Block Communications, which owns 13 communications companies in seven states, including The Blade, Buckeye CableSystem, and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Ms. Miehls becomes the 14th member of BCI's board of directors. She has been the chief financial officer of Block Communications since 2007. She joined the company in 1997.

She is a graduate of Ohio State University.
