Foreclosure filings in the four-county Toledo area fell 48 percent in February compared with a year earlier, according to figures from RealtyTrac Inc., a real estate data firm in Irvine, Calif.
They were down 7 percent from January.
In the four-county area, there were 387 housing units — about 1 of every 778 units — somewhere in the foreclosure process in February, RealtyTrac said. A year ago there were 749 housing units in foreclosure or distress.
In Ohio, foreclosure activity also was down 48 percent in February from a year earlier, and down 6 percent from January.
Nationally, foreclosure activity was down 27 percent in February from a year earlier, and down 10 percent from January.
A total of 112,498 homes nationwide were in a stage of foreclosure in February, RealtyTrac said. That equated to 1 in every 1,170 homes.
