Andersons moves up on Fortune 500 rankings

Marathon Petroleum tops in region at 25th

After making its first appearance last year on Fortune magazine’s list of the 500 largest U.S. companies, The Andersons Inc. apparently has decided just making the prestigious list wasn’t enough.

On the new Fortune 500 list released this week, the Maumee agribusiness firm rose to the 453rd spot with 2013 revenues of $5.6 billion. Last year the company ranked 472nd.

Marathon Petroleum Corp. again ranked highest among five northwest Ohio companies on the list. The Findlay oil refining and marketing giant rose to 25th place, up from 33rd last year. The company revenues totaled $93.9 billion.

Also making the list again were Owens-Illinois Inc., Dana Holding Corp., and Owens Corning.

O-I of Perrysburg, slipped to 372nd from No. 364 last year. The glass bottle and glass packaging maker had revenues of $6.9 billion in 2013.

Dana also dropped in the rankings; the Maumee auto-parts maker fell to 385 No. 356 a year ago.

Its revenues, according to Fortune, were $6.7 billion.

Building products manufacturer Owens Corning of Toledo rose one spot to No. 475, based on revenues of $5.3 billion, according to Fortune.

Two northwest Ohio firms made the Fortune 1000 list.

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. of Findlay was 669th on revenues of $3.4 billion, while Toledo’s Health Care REIT Inc. was No. 746 based on revenues of $2.9 billion.
