Kroger Co. has been fined $35,000 for two repeat safety violations.

According to a complaint filed by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, during a Jan. 23 visit to the store at 7545 Sylvania Ave., Sylvania Township, inspectors found powered industrial trucks in need of repair. The company previously was cited for that in 2011 at a central Ohio store.

The Sylvania Avenue store also was found to have returned to service power lift jacks used to transport groceries without inspecting them. Kroger had previously been cited for that Jan. 17 at a store in Marion, Ohio.

The company also was cited for an “other than serious” violation for not ensuring that employees who use its power lift jacks were trained to use them.

Kroger has 15 days to accept the violations, contest them, or request a meeting with OSHA to discuss the citations.
