    UNDER CONSTRUCTION

    Construction is under way for the Woodland Hills development on McCord Road across from McCord Junior High School in Sylvania.  Left, Nicholus Williams of Butler & Butler Inc.  installs drywall as, above, James Smeltzer, left, of Adam Brenneman Construction  helps build a wall. The subdivision is to have single-family homes as well as duplexes geared toward residents age 55 and older. The site is about 7.5 acres. 

    ACHIEVEMENTS

    ■ First Defiance Financial Corp., which owns First Federal Bank of the Midwest, has appointed Terri Bettinger, TK Herman, and Mark Robison to the company’s board of directors. Ms. Bettinger has been chief information officer at Franklin County Data Center in Columbus. Mr. Herman is co-founder and president of Aptera of Fort Wayne. Mr. Robison is chairman and president of Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Co. of Fort Wayne.

    ■ A heavy-duty wide commercial tire, Roadmaster RM332 WB, by Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. of Findlay was named as one of the Top 100 New Products of 2017 by Construction Equipment magazine.
